Hyrox Singapore 2026: race calendar + training timeline for first-time athletes

When to register, when to start training, and what to do each phase. A practical timeline for athletes targeting their first Hyrox race in Singapore or the SEA region.

12 May 2026

Hyrox Singapore has grown from a regional event to one of the most competitive Hyrox stops in SEA. If you're in Singapore (or somewhere in the Greater SEA region: KL, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta) and you've decided to try Hyrox, the questions usually go in this order: when's the next race, how do I register, and how much time do I really need to train?

Here's the practical answer.

Singapore race calendar (typical year)

Hyrox Singapore has had 1-2 official events per year since 2022, usually at the Singapore Sports Hub or large indoor exhibition venues. Race dates announce 4-6 months ahead. Confirm current dates at hyrox.com/find-a-hyrox — that's the only source of truth.

Typical pattern:

  • Q1 (Feb-Mar): first event of the year, often the bigger one
  • Q4 (Oct-Nov): second event, smaller field, sometimes paired with a regional finale

Doubles and Mixed Doubles are usually the most popular categories in SG — pair up if you have a regular training partner, the share-the-stations format makes the experience much more forgiving on a first race.

The 12-week timeline for SG athletes

If you're registered for a race 12 weeks out and you've never done Hyrox before, this is the realistic build.

Weeks 1-4 — Aerobic foundation

Singapore's climate makes outdoor running brutal year-round. Don't try to build your aerobic base on the East Coast Park trail in 33°C and 85% humidity at noon. Options:

  • Treadmill running at the gym (most cost-effective)
  • Run between 6-7am or after 8pm when temps drop to 28-29°C
  • Indoor rowing 30-45 min sessions as a low-impact alternative for 1-2 sessions per week

Target: 4 sessions per week, 30-60 min each at conversation pace. By week 4 you should be able to run 5km without stopping in 30 min or less (about 6:00/km).

Weeks 5-8 — Station volume + compromised running

Time to get on the Hyrox station equipment. Most Singapore commercial gyms (Anytime Fitness, Pure Fitness, Virgin Active, Fitness First) have most of the kit; only a few have the official Hyrox sleds. Specialised options:

  • Reebok Fit Hub (Funan, Tampines) has dedicated Hyrox-compliant equipment
  • F45 / Hyrox-affiliated boxes in Tanjong Pagar, Holland Village, and Bukit Timah
  • Strength Sanctuary in River Valley has the full Hyrox setup

Sessions per week: 4-5

  • 2× compromised running (run 1km → station effort → run 1km)
  • 1× strength (squats, deadlifts, rows)
  • 1× long aerobic run (60-75 min)
  • 1× station-only technique work (focus on sled push body angle and wall ball form)

Weeks 9-11 — Peak and simulation

The 4-station and 8-station simulations come in. Find a gym that allows you to set up the kit in race order (run → station → run → station). If your local gym doesn't, treadmill + nearby station equipment works, but transitions will be ugly.

Suggested Peak week:

  • Mon: 30-min recovery run
  • Tue: 6 × (1 km run + 60 burpee broad jumps) at race pace
  • Wed: rest
  • Thu: half simulation (runs 1-4 + stations 1-4) — time it
  • Fri: rest or 30-min walk
  • Sat: full simulation OR 12-km steady run
  • Sun: rest

Week 12 — Taper

  • Mon: 20-min easy run
  • Tue: 15 min — 3 × 400m at race pace
  • Wed: rest
  • Thu: 10-min station tune-up (one rep of each, light)
  • Fri: rest
  • Sat: race day

Singapore-specific race day notes

  • Heat acclimatisation: indoor venues are climate-controlled to 22-24°C, which feels cool after months of training in 30°C. Your body actually performs faster in this temp — expect your race time to be 3-5% faster than your training time-trials.
  • Pacing: the "go out conservative" rule applies even more in SG because most local athletes train in heat and naturally pace conservatively. The race-day cool venue feels like permission to go fast in run 1. Don't. Hold race pace; you'll thank yourself by run 6.
  • Sled push: Singapore venues use artificial turf (high friction). If you've only trained on rubber gym floors, your sled push will be 15-20 seconds slower than your training PB. Adjust expectations.
  • Hydration: 2-3 water stations on the course. Use the ones at run 4 and run 7. Skipping water mid-race is a rookie mistake — even in air-con you'll lose 1-2 kg of fluid during an 80-90 minute race.

Registration logistics

Singapore Hyrox events open registration 4-6 months ahead. Spots sell out for the Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories within 2-4 weeks. Singles is more forgiving — usually available 2-3 months out.

Standard pricing (2026 reference, check current):

  • Singles Open: SGD 200-260
  • Doubles: SGD 350-450/pair
  • Pro divisions: same price as Open

Tip: register the moment dates are announced. Singapore Hyrox is one of the fastest-selling regional events in Asia.

What to do this week if your race is 12 weeks out

  1. Register if you haven't
  2. Pick your division (most first-timers: Singles Open)
  3. Time-trial your 5 km to set a baseline. Even 7:00/km is fine for a starting number.
  4. Identify a gym with sled access
  5. Build the 15-week structure backwards from race date

The Hyrox Race Planner handles step 5 automatically — answer 6 questions about your race date, division, experience, and target time, and it generates the periodised plan with division-correct weights in kg. The diagnostic engine projects your race-day finish time as you log PBs, so 12 weeks out you'll know if you're on pace for sub-90 or if you need to find another 5 minutes in the next 8 weeks. Race in 12 weeks. Stop guessing.

FAQ

Can I train for Hyrox without a gym?

Mostly no — the sled, ski erg, and rowing machine are hard to replicate at home. You can do 60-70% of the plan with calisthenics, sprinting, and a sandbag, but you'll be undertrained on the strength-endurance stations. Worth getting at least 2 gym sessions/week in the Build phase.

What about Hyrox in KL, Bangkok, or Jakarta?

Hyrox has expanded to KL (Malaysia) and Bangkok (Thailand) in recent years; Jakarta is still emerging. Plans are identical — Hyrox is the same race globally. Just register for whichever city's date works for your build window.

I'm 40+, is this realistic?

Absolutely. Hyrox has age-graded divisions (40-49, 50-59, 60+). The training plan structure is the same; recovery between hard sessions might need to be 1-2 days longer in the Build phase. Many of the strongest local Hyrox athletes in SG are in their 40s.
